We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Security Operations Analyst to join our Security team. This position is ideal for candidates who are 0-1 years out of college and looking to kick-start their career in cybersecurity. As a Junior Security Operations Analyst, you will assist in monitoring, analysing and responding to security threats and incidents to ensure the safety and security of our organization's information systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Monitoring: Monitor security alerts and incidents using security information and event management (SIEM) systems and other security tools.
- Incident Response: Assist in the investigation and response to security incidents, including malware infections, unauthorized access, and data breaches.
- Threat Analysis: Analyse security threats and vulnerabilities to determine their impact on the organization and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Log Analysis: Review and analyse system and network logs to identify suspicious activity and potential security breaches.
- Vulnerability Management: Support vulnerability scanning and assessment efforts and assist in coordinating remediation activities.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate records of security incidents, including analysis, actions taken, and recommendations for improvement.
- Security Awareness: Assist in promoting security awareness across the organization through training sessions and communication of security best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT, development, and other teams to ensure security controls are integrated into the organization's processes and systems.
Qualifications
- Experience: 0-1 years of relevant experience in a security operations or IT role (internships and co-op experience considered).
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, intrusion
- detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and antivirus software.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S).
- Experience with log analysis and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of common security threats and vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or similar entry-level security certifications.
