Job Purpose
Leads and oversees the Financial Crimes Intelligence Team within the i3 – Intelligence, Insider Threat & Insights Unit globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with the Global Intelligence Standard, internal policies, and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain an Intelligence “Centre of Excellence” to assist in the delivery of Corporate Security’s core mandate of effective, efficient, timely and proactive management of security and criminal risk, by producing timely, high quality and actionable strategic and tactical Intelligence, and placing it in the hands of the appropriate Intelligence consumers, throughout Scotiabank globally, to support informed, timely and precise decisions and actions.
- As the lead designated Point of Contact (Intelligence liaison) under the Global Intelligence Standard, is responsible to support collaboration, calibration, in-depth discussion, and feedback amongst the main Intelligence Units for the development of insightful and actionable multi-dimensional Intelligence.
- Lead/contribute to the delivery of a monthly brief to the Financial Crimes Risk Management - Risk & Control Leadership Council.
- Continuously share and co-analyze information as needed with the other programs/partners, to jointly create holistic, detailed, and cohesive Intelligence outputs.
- Participate in information sharing with other financial institutions or organizations in compliance with local laws, disclosure provisions and internal policies and guidance
- Oversee a team in the collection, collation, and analysis of information and intelligence from vendors, open-source media, internal information feeds, reporting, and other sources to identify threats, issues or incidents which may impact Bank personnel, assets, or operations.
- Improve team functionality by continually developing new sources of information, managing information from internal and external sources, and identifying new analytical tools.
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Qualifications
- 4-year university/college degree/diploma and/or equivalent certifications/designations in the fields of Criminal or Military Intelligence, International Affairs, Political Science, Criminology, Law, or similar fields.
- CAMS or other equivalent Financial Crime designation or 2 years of experience within a Financial Crimes unit an asset
- Experience in developing the foundations/framework of policies and procedures
- Demonstrated experience in intelligence collection/analysis and/or investigations in a law enforcement, military, regulatory and/or corporate environments
- Demonstrated experience in people leadership experience, demonstrating strong employee and team engagement capabilities
- Demonstrated experience in the use of Open Source, Subscription based, and proprietary intelligence collection and production technology and analytical tools
- Knowledge of Canadian and global Criminal, Evidence and Privacy legislation, case law and regulations
- Knowledge, insights and keen interest in geopolitical trends and developments, global economic trends and developments and climate / environmental developments
- A mix of education and experience in structuring, analyzing and visualizing data, from multiple sources, to support insights, analysis and reporting responsibilities is an asset
