Job Description
As a Network Administrator you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will work closely with the extended IT team to ensure the efficient operation of networks, enabling employees to stay connected and productive.
Responsibilities
- Design, install, and configure network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Monitor and manage the overall network performance, identifying potential bottlenecks, and taking proactive steps to address them.
- Maintain network security by establishing and enforcing policies, implementing security measures, and monitoring for potential threats.
- Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, escalating to vendors or other IT staff as necessary.
- Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement network policies, standards, and best practices.
- Plan and execute network maintenance, upgrades, and migrations with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Assist in the administration of servers, storage, and other IT infrastructure components as needed.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and colleagues on network-related issues.
- Keep abreast of new developments in networking technologies, evaluating and recommending new solutions to improve performance and efficiency.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in network administration, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing.
- Experience with configuring and managing network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with industrial control systems and their network requirements is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or Network+ are desirable.
