Position Description

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is currently seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Privacy Specialist. Reporting to the Director, Information and Privacy Office, the Privacy Specialist will play a key role in supporting the Information Privacy Office (IPO) at CAMH. The Specialist will be responsible for front line triage of casework, including opening and maintaining case files in our internal tracking system and communicating with stakeholders regarding initial questions and concerns. The Privacy Specialist will also provide key privacy support for digital projects at CAMH, including assisting with Privacy Impact Assessments and reviews. In addition, the Specialist will provide support by drafting communications to clients and patients, preparing written materials to support the department and assistant in developing ongoing education initiatives for the organization.

Your accountabilities will include assisting patients with information about, and implementation of, consent directives. Participate in quality improvement initiatives as determined by Privacy Officer. Co-ordinate education and training activities across CAMH, including annual “Privacy Rounds.” This role will provide support to a number of digital projects at CAMH. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a University undergraduate degree in Health Informatics, Business, Law, English or related disciplines or equivalent experience in the field. An Industry recognized privacy-related professional certification (CIPP, CIPP/C) or equivalent education/training preferred. You will also have 1 – 2 years’ experience in an Access and Privacy Office along with one to two years’ experience with PHIPA and FIPPA. Experience in the healthcare industry is also an asset, particularly any experience supporting the implementation of digital initiatives.

You possess strong analytical and problem solving abilities, organizational and time management skills as well as sound judgement. You are enthusiastic, flexible and capable of working independently and in a team setting and can demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both written and oral). You can handle matters of a confidential and/or sensitive nature and can work well under pressure and timelines. You have the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. You are proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.

Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Please Note: This full-time, contract (12 months) position is NOT part of any bargaining unit.
