As Philips Canada Legal Counsel (Privacy and Compliance), you are responsible for:
Legal Compliance
keep abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting Philips Canada (including for example French language laws, Health Canada regulations, competition law, anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, government procurement laws, product packaging, marketing and advertising laws, employment laws, consumer protection acts, AODA, CASL, and AMP regulations)
provide compliance advice
draft and negotiate compliance related agreements (including for example healthcare provider engagements, reference site agreements and sponsorship agreements)
help Philips Canada investigate alleged breaches of Philips’ General Business Principles
develop and roll out compliance programs, policies, trainings, guidance documents and templates
Privacy
keep abreast of Canadian privacy law developments
provide Canadian privacy law advice and support (including for example with privacy notices, privacy impact assessments and data protection agreements)
help Philips respond to Access to Information requests
work with Philips’ Privacy department to develop and roll out Canadian privacy trainings, guidance and documents
In this role, you will be:
a member of Philips Canada’s Legal & Compliance Department
reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, Philips Canada
working collaboratively with Philips’ Global and North American Privacy and Compliance departments
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following:
Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.)
Member in good standing of Canadian provincial or territorial law society
Bilingualism (French/English) highly preferred
2 to 5 years in-house or private sector experience (healthcare sector experience preferred)
Education and/or certification in Canadian privacy laws (CIPP/C) preferrable
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to a changing environment

Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position. For this position, you should reside in or within commuting distance to our headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.
