Position Description
Our client is currently seeking a Legal Assistant who can provide support to a busy practice and contribute to the high level of service their clients have come to expect. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines. The successful candidate should also possess the capacity to perform duties with speed and accuracy, with great attention to detail.
This is a HYBRID WORK position is ideal for a self-starter with exceptional writing and communication skills and a professional demeanour.
- Manage daily operation of a successful and busy legal practice, specialized in civil and commercial litigation
- Take ownership over required correspondence and documentation
- Provide assistance with completion of litigation documentations as they pertain to civil, commercial, divisional, and Court of Appeal (eg motion records, affidavits, notices, etc.)
- Manage various administrative items
- Aid with tasks pertaining to accounting
- Take ownership over assigned tasks and show initiative
- Arrange meetings and manage calendars
- Maintain strict confidentiality
Experience
- 5+ years of experience as Legal Assistant, specifically in litigation
- Experience with Caselines and ACL
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure
- Inherent ability to manage time-sensitive situations and exceptional multi-tasking
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 suite of products
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Exceptional organization, resourcefulness and attention to detail
Education
Post-secondary education in a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
