Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Crafts Farrow State Hospital, 7901 Farrow Road, Building 3, Room 250, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the IT Security Specialist I, you will monitor the Agency's Information Technology Systems for security breaches and forensically diagnose the severity of a breach. Ensures the agency's security policies and measures meet industry standards and are kept up-to-date. Deploys and maintains security systems that collects and analyze logs from the all the agency's information technology systems.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Operates and maintains the agency's cloud, identity and endpoint security systems.
- Operates and maintains the Agency's Security Information and Event Management System (SIEM).
- Prepares reports on detected security breaches.
- Conducts security baselines for Mac OS X.
- Researches security trends and make recommendations to the Agency on how to enhance its security.
- Ensures systems are up-to-date on security patches and code revisions.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
State Requirement: A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Comments
The selected candidate must have knowledge of security administration for various operating systems and software; have the ability to write detailed technical documentation on security policies and procedures; moderate analytical and problem-solving skills. Moderate knowledge and understanding of information risks concepts and principles as a means of relating business needs and security controls. Will have scheduled on-call time and may have to work nights and weekends occasionally.
