ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
This dynamic role is critical to ensuring the confidentiality, availability and integrity of Ontario Northland’s IT environment. In this role, risk is managed by leveraging existing controls and capabilities, and by identifying gaps. In collaboration with the Cybersecurity and IT Compliance team this position monitors, maintains, and deploys controls to safeguard Ontario Northland’s IT environments.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor, maintain, and deploy a variety of security toolsets
- Identify and manage vulnerabilities
- Monitor and evaluate daily security alerts, remidiate, or escalate incidents from security logs and Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS) providers
- Ensure adherence to established security and network policies
- Provide security support with a variety of operating systems
- Install and configure computer security equipment
- Maintain security connectivity of all computer workstations
- Provide security support to users
- Maintain servers and associated hardware, applications, services, and settings
- Install, configure and troubleshoot security system endpoints
- Create and update monitoring dashboards: resolving and escalating issues as necessary
- Assist with management, configuration, and maintenance of security systems such as video surveillance, firewall, endpoint protection
- Assist with video surveillance requests
- Support the hardening of existing and new IT systems
- Manage end-user software accounts and permissions in accordance with ITS policies and procedures
- Gather documentary evidence of corporate policies and technical controls to meet Government requirements
- Assist in the development of security awareness material
- Work with stakeholders to ensure IT Policy compliance as well as project teams to ensure security controls are implemented and functioning as expected
- Test release of products, updates, and patches to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility
- Create and maintain technical support documentation for network and related systems and applications
- Responsible for asset management for security assets
- Collaborate with the ITS Support Services group on support requests/incidents/problems/tasks
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Information Technology Systems, Computer Science or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in IT Security
- 1- 3 years’ experience providing enterprise IT support or service desk functions
- Experience with IT infrastructure technologies, video surveillance technologies, and virtual server environments
- ITIL Foundations v3/4, MCSE or CISSP certification is preferred
- Experienced in Microsoft environment with a working knowledge of various MS products (SharePoint, Project Server, SQL, Exchange, SCCM, WSUS) and versions of MS windows servers including 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022
- Proven security engineering, security operations, and security performance analysis skills
- Fluent in scripting languages
- Experience with Fortinet products
- Proficiency in Linux and IBM iSeries are considered an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to assist non-technical individuals with complex issues
- Valid driver’s licence
