Job Description
Intuitive Surgical (ISI) has established the preeminent position in surgical robotics with presence in more than 60 countries around the world. China represents a key market to us that has unprecedented growth opportunities energized largely by unmet patient and disease needs.
A Joint Venture (JV) between ISI and Fosun Pharma – a subsidiary of Fosun International, a leading Pharma and Medical Device Company in China – has been established to accelerate the opportunities within this key market. The intent of the JV is to research, develop and manufacture innovative, robotic-assisted catheter-based medical devices.
We are seeking a
Senior Software Engineer to help Intuitive Surgical’s New Product Development team focused on the development and launch digital solutions in China. The digital software engineer will serve as an liaison between new product development teams in US and China and will play a major role in creating and maintaining a variety of key documents needed for various international regulatory submissions.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Becoming intimately familiar with all technical and documentation aspects for ISI digital solutions including mobile applications and the network infrastructure for cloud-based infrastructure and back-end services
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality, performance, and scalability of digital products to achieve product certification and regulatory approvals per project timelines.
- Work closely with design teams and project management to proactively mitigate risk from compliance issues through proactive participation in design reviews and early compliance testing of prototypes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with the software products
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other members of the team
Qualifications
Skill/Job Requirements:
- Minimum Master’s Degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on one of the following areas: medical robotics, software design and testing, network infrastructure, mobile application development.
- Technical experienced contributor with deep expertise in cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS and proven knowledge of networking protocols and concepts such as HTTP. TCP/IP. DNS, and load balancing.
- Broad and deep expertise of Requirement Management and Medical Devices Design Controls regulations (FDA CFR/QSIT, MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, and NMPA software and cybersecurity related technical guidelines)
Nice To Have
- Be familiar with PACS and/or DICOM desired, experience preferred.
- Passion for helping teams efficiently create fully documented, robust, and reliable medical devices
- Sound communication and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
- Fluent in English and Mandarin (read/write) is a plus.
- Technical mandarin is a plus

- Internationally 10% of the time

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.
Base Salary Range Region 1:$184,500 - $265,500
Base Salary Range Region 2: $156,900 - $225,700
