Venor is partnering with the Physician Assessment Centre of Excellence (PACE) in the search for an IT Coordinator. PACE is an innovative clinic and assessment centre created to help internationally trained physicians build their careers in Nova Scotia while providing much-needed primary care to patients. As a collaborative partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, and the Medical Council of Canada, PACE offers a unique blend of orientation, hands-on assessment, and supervised clinical practice. This model not only supports physicians on their journey to independent licensure but also helps address the province’s access-to-care challenges—bringing skilled, compassionate physicians into communities sooner and strengthening the future of healthcare in Nova Scotia.
Reporting to the Director of IT, the IT Coordinator will serve as the primary point of technology support across a dynamic and growing healthcare environment. This is a people-focused role that blends technical skill with a strong commitment to attentive, patient-centered customer service. You will act as the face of IT for clinical staff, administrators, directors, and executive leadership, ensuring each interaction is professional, supportive, and solution-oriented. Because PACE operates in an active patient-care setting, the role requires discretion, adherence to PHIA/FOIPOP, and consistent application of cybersecurity and privacy best practices. The IT Coordinator position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, can adapt to change, and wants to help shape technology processes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide responsive, hands-on IT support to staff at all levels, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and with a customer-first mindset.
- Deliver hands-on support for desktops, peripherals, medical applications, and enterprise software platforms, including Microsoft 365, MedAccess, OceanMD, and NSH portals.
- Administer user accounts and access rights in accordance with organizational policies, with emphasis on security controls such as multifactor authentication and least-privilege access.
- Assess and prioritize incidents, determine underlying causes, and apply structured problem-solving methods; escalate to vendors or senior technical resources when required.
- Assist with the maintenance and setup of networking and server environments, including coordination with external vendors and service providers.
- Apply cybersecurity best practices and uphold all relevant privacy and data protection requirements (PHIA, FOIPOP), particularly in sensitive healthcare environments.
- Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation in alignment with recognized industry frameworks such as ITIL.
- Support organizational reporting and decision-making by producing accurate data analysis and reporting using Microsoft 365 applications.
- Provide technology support across multiple locations, including in-person visits and periodic after-hours maintenance as needed.
What we are looking for:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in IT support, preferably within a healthcare or other regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional, attentive, and effective customer service to clinicians, administrators, and leaders
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration and user support, including identity and access management through Microsoft Entra (Azure AD).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices, including multifactor authentication, endpoint security, patch management, and least-privilege access.
- Ability to manage a broad range of generalist responsibilities, from end-user support to vendor coordination.
- Proven discretion and professionalism in clinical settings, with a strong understanding of privacy and confidentiality obligations (PHIA, FOIPOP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and respectfully to interest-holders with varying levels of IT literacy.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly between organizational sites within HRM.
- Skilled in managing vendor relationships and coordinating IT support services to ensure timely, high-quality solutions and smooth operational performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ITIL service management and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- Certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA Security+, Fortinet, or ITIL Foundation.
- Experience with EHR/EMR or other medical software and vendor collaboration.
