Provide vetronics software engineering and project management support to the US Army Project Management Office (PMO) for a ground combat vehicle platform via the Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC).
Essential Job Functions:
For current production vehicles: Serve as subject matter expert on the platform Vetronics Software Architecture and design for current production vehicles. Lead efforts to reverse-engineer and document the Vehicle Application and Vehicle Interface Application designs in sufficient detail to sustain and maintain the software baseline independent from the OEM. Accountable for the evaluation/validation/approval of future Vetronics software change proposals from the OEM. Ensure proposed changes not only satisfy the requirement(s) that drive the change(s), but also ensure the OEM's implementation does not degrade system performance, reliability or safety. Lead a development team (which could be independent of the OEM) in the implementation and execution of Government funded pre-planned product improvements that impact the platform Vetronics Software Configuration Items.
For future vehicles that are still in development: Serve as subject matter expert for the next generation of Vetronics Software Architecture and design. Accountable for the acceptance of platform Vetronics Software Contract Deliverables (Source Code, Architecture, Design, Interface documentation) sufficient to sustain and maintain the software baseline independent from the OEM. Responsible for the evaluation/validation/approval of future Vetronics software change proposals from the OEM. Ensure proposed changes not only satisfy the requirement(s) that drive the change(s), but also ensure the OEM's implementation does not degrade system performance, reliability or safety. Lead a development team (which could be independent of the OEM) in the implementation and execution of Government funded pre-planned product improvements that impact the platform Vetronics Software Configuration Items.
General responsibilities: Conduct requirements decomposition from various operational requirements/documents. Analyze technical capability and maturity of various software systems. Develop technical performance specifications. Develop Testing methods and plans. Coordinate with other functional teams within the project management office. Review contractor performance specifications, software documentation. Responsible for ensuring configuration management of vetronics software distribution to vehicles and to the government Systems Integration Lab (SIL). Responsible for ensuring successful execution of vetronics software verification and test. Responsible for Labview Test Bench SW Maintenance. Provide input and consultation on a variety of cybersecurity topics. Contribute to the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) for contractor efforts. Assist in ensuring that the program office abides by DoD Policy, Statues and Requirements. Perform project management duties and create related documents to support these efforts such as risk analyses, lessons learned, presentations, and policy/guidance documents. Assist in adjudicating programmatic issues related to software on ground tactical vehicles.
Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. citizenship is required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a good grasp of systems engineering and program management, with at least Two years of relevant experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance. Able to perform tasks independently based on initial guidance. Communication skills required to interface with systems and software development engineers, customer and various DoD entities. Experience working in environments that apply an engineering approach to software following standard software processes.
Desired Skills: Experience in military ground, air, or naval vehicles type certification and material release. Experience in a Department of Defense program of record as a support contractor, OEM contractor, or USG software engineer. Thorough understanding of DoD Acquisition process. Experience in test and evaluation of complex weapons systems.
