About the Role
Aliant Resources is seeking a Data Privacy & Security Compliance Officer to support enterprise IT and ERP modernization initiatives. The role focuses on establishing and maintaining data privacy, protection, and governance frameworks in alignment with federal and provincial legislation such as FIPPA, MFIPPA, and PIPEDA.
This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance across systems and processes supporting digital transformation, cloud integration, and AI deployment for public sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain data privacy and security compliance programs.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIA) and risk evaluations for IT and ERP systems.
- Collaborate with IT and legal teams to ensure compliance with FIPPA, MFIPPA, and PIPEDA requirements.
- Support audits, incident management, and breach response activities.
- Provide guidance on data handling, retention, and access control practices.
- Partner with cybersecurity and change management teams to embed privacy by design in digital projects.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data privacy, compliance, or information governance.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian privacy legislation and public sector compliance frameworks.
- Experience conducting privacy and security audits or risk assessments.
- Understanding of ISO 27001, NIST, or ITIL security controls.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
Nice-to-Have
- Certifications: CIPM, CIPP/C, CISM, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer.
- Experience with ERP, SAP, or Microsoft 365 data governance.
- Familiarity with cloud security standards (Azure, AWS).
- Exposure to AI and data ethics frameworks.
