The Opportunity:
We're looking for a Privacy Analyst to join our Legal team.
This can be a remote role, however for those who would like to come into the office we are at 151 Yonge St, Toronto, ON.
Reporting to Director, Privacy, the Privacy Analyst is responsible for maturing and aiding with the implementation of our Privacy Management Program and advising on organizational privacy matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. The Privacy Analyst will leverage their knowledge of privacy law to assist with privacy inquiries from all departments of the organization and will manage and investigate privacy breaches.

What your day looks like:
The Privacy Analyst supports and contributes to the overall success of the Privacy Program by ensuring accountabilities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures and privacy by design principles.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manages the process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and acting on privacy incidents or breaches concerning the organization's privacy policies and procedures
- Conduct privacy audits and/or investigations, as assigned, including root cause analysis exercises
- Support privacy risk assessments and audits to support monitoring activities.
- Maintain and report on metrics to support trend analysis and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
- Support or lead key projects and implement mechanisms to identify, track, escalate and communicate project privacy risks
- Support the privacy training program to promote understanding, awareness, and collaboration across the organization (i.e., privacy awareness initiatives, annual training plans, targeted training opportunities)
- Monitor the industry landscape to identify trends and implement best practices
Requirements
Your experience and skills:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in business, finance or risk management, or related field and 2-3 years' experience in Privacy Program management; a combination of education and experience will be considered
- IAPP certifications such as CIPP/C and CIPP/M are an asset
- Experience in the Credit Union system or securities related field is an asset
- Advanced knowledge of federal and provincial private sector privacy legislation, regulations, guidance and breach reporting requirements
- Ability to gather, analyze, organize, document, and present information in a succinct and organized manner
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative resolutions or approaches to problems
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
- Working knowledge of privacy management software and processes
- Working knowledge of commercial banking, retail banking, and trust activities and practices
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Working knowledge of collaboration systems including Microsoft Teams
