Network Engineer
Duration:
6 Months + Extension
Principal Tasks and Responsibilities Include:
- Design and configure Fortinet-based wireless network infrastructure, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitches, and FortiAPs.
- Perform RF tuning, channel planning, and signal optimization for both underground and outdoor Wi-Fi deployments.
- Implement VLANs, QoS policies, and security zones to ensure proper segmentation between public access and backhaul networks.
- Monitor and analyze network performance using FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and internal monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot escalated network issues from field teams and coordinate with Fortinet TAC when required.
- Conduct site surveys, coverage validation, and post-deployment audits to ensure network reliability and performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, IP schema, and configuration standards.
- Support lifecycle management, firmware upgrades, and future network expansion activities.

Qualifications and Pre-requisites:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in enterprise networking, ideally with public Wi-Fi or large distributed environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP).
- Deep understanding of 802.11 protocols, RF propagation, and interference mitigation techniques.
- Proficiency in network diagnostics, packet capture, and performance tuning.
- Experience with PoE switching, structured cabling, and outdoor access point deployments.
- Certifications such as Fortinet NSE 4-7, CWNP, or CCNP are considered an asset.
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
