Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for ensuring proprietary and sensitive information is secure through coalescing security information from a variety of security tools to analyze events and alerts for the purpose of mitigating threats. Exercises no supervision.
Work Location
ONSITE; Alamo Regional Security Operations Center (ARSOC), San Antonio, Texas 78205
Work Schedule
7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday; Shift work, could expand to weekends based on department needs
Essential Job Functions
- Operates, maintains, and analyzes security systems, security logs, network logs, and device logs.
- Participates in the investigation and analysis of system security integration, testing, operations, and maintenance.
- Responds to cyber incidents and assists in investigating, resolving, and escalating cyber security issues.
- Provides customer service and technical support relating to security functions of the network, application, and enterprise systems.
- Evaluates user requirements and ensures they comply with all necessary policies and directives.
- Conducts Cyber Defense Analysis by using collected data from cyber security tools to analyze events that occur in COSA environments for the purpose of mitigating threats.
- Supports Cyber Defense Infrastructure by testing, implementing, deploying, maintaining, and administering the infrastructure systems, hardware, and software.
- Conducts Cyber Threat Analysis by deploying cyber indicators to maintain awareness of the status of highly dynamic operating environments.
- Collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates cyber threat and/or warning assessments.
- Collaborates to identify access and collection gaps with other ITSD teams and organizations to mitigate threats to COSA Enterprise and Alamo Region Digital Environments.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of relevant technical and cyber security work experience, including internships.
- CompTIA Security+.
- Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years relevant technical and cyber security work experience, including internships.
- Experience in an agile environment.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of 7 NICE Framework Workforce Categories.
- Knowledge of business operations, systems requirements and IT processes and technologies.
- Knowledge of information and data analysis requirements.
- Knowledge of reporting analysis, design, and programming principles.
- Skill in interpersonal communications and analytical thinking.
- Skill in technical writing.
- Skill in coordinating work projects.
- Ability to perform all the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodations.
- Ability to work in an office environment.
