Jr. Info Security Analyst
Amentum is currently seeking a Jr. Information Security Analyst for the IT Projects Team. The role will focus on the design, development, testing, and implementation of IT hardware, networking, and software projects to modernize and enhance existing capabilities and processes with state-of-the-art technologies. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with experts/mentors in various IT and data management disciplines and have significant impact on project execution as the IT enhancements are implemented to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of vital networks and data for the enduring program.
The successful candidate will work with the IT Projects, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams to ensure continued compliance with federal IT and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
Primary Responsibilities And Essential Functions Of This Position
- Analyze systems to protect data from unauthorized users and monitors compliance with the organization's information security policies and procedures.
- Identify vulnerabilities that are applicable to systems and applications to assess their severity and urgency
- Work with system administrators and network administrators to track corrective action, resolution progress, and mitigation of vulnerabilities.
- Utilizes automated vulnerability scanning tools.
- Participate in technical assessment using standard industry tools
- Identify and mitigate risks throughout project life-cycle.
- Participate in security control reviews and provide improvement guidance
- Participate in identifying solutions and opportunities for systems improvement.
- Perform technical research and testing; provide documentation of technical problems and resolutions, as required.
- Collaborate to ensure a robust and repeatable solution.
- Create and maintain project artifacts.
- Create/update technical documentation and user manuals.
- Work with users to resolve concerns and explain how to minimize security risks
- Aids in supporting Security Operations Center (SOC) operations for event and incident response.
Describe Work Experience Required To Perform Job
- Experience with various information technologies and disciplines such as but not limited to Windows Servers, Windows Active Directory, Network Routing & Switching, Window PC, Windows Database Technologies, Software Applications
- Experience in understanding the core principles in the field of information and systems security.
- Exposure to or skills with any of the following: NIST 800-53, Networking, Server Operations or one of the LM Cybersecurity technical systems (Splunk, Security Center, McAfee ePO, Cisco FirePower).
- Risk Assessment experience
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience coordinating with other team members and ensuring problem solution, List skills and capabilities needed to perform this position:
- Must be able to work together and communicate maturely and professionally with co-workers and federal customers.
- Ability to coordinate across remote team members, management, and customers
- Ability and motivation to learn new skills in an evolving information security landscape
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Visio©, Word©, Excel©, PowerPoint©
- General Information Technology (IT) technical knowledge related to Personal Computers (PCs), PC Applications,
Enterprise IT Equipment & Applications.
- General technical knowledge of common cyber security utilities and tools such as nmap, wirehark, powershell, sysinternals, python, regular expressions, text editors
- General technical knowledge of common IT protocols such as dns, dhcp, tftp, tls/ssl, http, sip, smtp, snmp, ssh, telnet, icmp, ntp, udp
- Displays and promotes a positive attitude and possesses unwavering integrity and extraordinary adherence to high ethical standards appropriate risk reduction, and user satisfaction.
- Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Proven experience meeting goals, deadlines, and delivery dates.

Minimum Requirements
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems or a Technical field and 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
- CISSP preferred
- Candidate must be a current U.S. Citizen.
- Security + Certification
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Knowledge of PC operating systems and servers
- Experience with the NIST/FISMA regulatory and compliance requirements
- Must be customer focused and possess the ability to identify issues, analyze, and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of moderately complex technical problems
- Experience with documenting test environments, requirements, results, and POA&M resolution
