Your role as Senior Privacy Counsel
Reporting to Nathalie Delisle, General Counsel, your role will be to ensure that Dialogue has and maintains an adequate privacy program to ensure compliance of our entire operations to all applicable laws, protect data privacy, minimize risks, satisfy clients and members requirements and rights, and leverage the privacy practices to deliver a competitive advantage or business-added value.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as a data privacy resource to respond to questions, guide the business, manage and react to any data-related issue, incident or crisis
- Develop and implement required policies, consents, forms, practices, legal opinion, governance framework,
- Analyze, and advise on privacy requirements for data initiatives and product development
- Establish a privacy compliance program to track, test, investigate and report inappropriate access and disclosure of protected data, mitigation, and remediation
- Manage all breach determination and notification processes under applicable federal and provincial laws
- Conduct or supervise complaint investigations.
- Cooperate with federal and provincial regulators in compliance reviews or investigations
- Maintain advanced knowledge of Canadian Health data privacy governing laws
We'd Love To Hear From You If You Have
- Passion for Privacy
- Acute knowledge of Privacy Laws
- Experience as Privacy Counsel, Privacy Officer or Privacy Lead in an organization where privacy is key
- Bachelor’s degree in Law in Canada or Europe a significant asset
- Tech or software development background is a significant asset
- Knowledge of Canadian Privacy Laws applicable to Personal Health Data is a significant asset
- Autonomy to develop privacy frameworks, policies, PIAs and other privacy-related documents
- An interest in leading Privacy in a fast-growing organization in an industry where privacy is key
- An approach oriented toward practical business solutions and rooted in a team-first approach
