The Security Programs’ primary objective is to create, deliver, and evolve high quality programs that enhance security for TELUS and our customers in an ever-changing cyber security landscape.
As a Manager on the Security Programs team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission of safeguarding assets and information and improve security and privacy outcomes. Succeeding means improving customer experience with TELUS' services, ensuring our services meet security standards, and helping TELUS avoid costs from redesign or incident response efforts.
What You Will Do
Drive a high engagement, high performance culture and support team members to achieve individual and team goals
Analyze security requirements and existing controls, provide recommendations to mitigate risks, estimate costs and establish processes and tools to protect computer systems and networks from potential threats and comply with security policies, standards and contractual obligations
Provide support on security plans and artifacts that are produced by the team, with a particular eye to anticipating and mitigating future security or contractual issues
Provide regular updates on security progress to executives and effectively escalate issues when required
Leverage your business/ security expertise to further improve our security programs, working collaboratively across our leaders and stakeholders to develop, refine, enhance, and implement
Build effective working relationships with technology teams and business stakeholders across all of TELUS's business lines
Stay up-to-date with the latest cyber threats, security trends, technologies, and best practices
Qualifications
What you bring
University degree in Technology, Cybersecurity or equivalent experience
5 or more years of experience in information security consulting, compliance (e.g. PCI, SOC2, ISO 27001) or governance
A solid general understanding of enterprise IT and IT Security practices, including security control frameworks, common security product categories, security architecture design patterns, and security policies
Experience in a formal or informal leadership role, providing technical guidance or quality assurance to senior level technical resources
Strong oral and written communications skills, with an ability to tailor messaging on complex technical issues to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
A proven track record of working collaboratively with functionally diverse teams across an organization
Experience implementing solutions to security challenges in a variable-tempo, interrupt-driven operational environment
Effective at seeking out diverse perspectives, asking the right questions, listening and removing barriers
Great to haves
Experience developing short term and long term strategies with an eye for what’s important and effectively driving and communicating plans for stakeholder awareness and engagement
Solid understanding and experience in one or more of the following domains: Identity and Access Management, Telecommunications or Cloud Computing
Recognized security designation, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
