We are looking for
two (2) Cyber Security Associates to join Nova Scotia Power, immersing yourself in a comprehensive development program. As a pivotal member of our team, you will gain exposure to various facets within the department, including Cyber Security Operations, Risk and Initiatives laying the foundation for a dynamic and rewarding career in cybersecurity.
The
Cyber Security Associate will actively contribute to cybersecurity projects, focusing on areas such as privileged access management, data loss prevention, and other cyber security capabilities that fall under the identify, protect, detect, respond and recover cyber security framework pillars. Collaborating closely with the Enterprise Risk Management Function, you will conduct risk assessments in alignment with NIST Frameworks and MITRE ATT&CK. As part of the Cyber Security Operations function you will conduct vigilant monitoring of networks and systems to address security threats, vulnerabilities, and anomalies. Participating in the Cyber Initiatives function, you will also be responsible for implementing modern security monitoring tools and processes to continuously improve on cyber security capabilities. Overall, you will be showcasing adaptability to organizational dynamics and a passion for continuous learning.

- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for new business solutions and third party managed solutions.
- Tackle technical challenges, from implementing advanced privileged access management tools to navigating intricacies in data loss preventions.
- Additionally, the role involves staying ahead of evolving technologies, ensuring the seamless implementation and maintenance of cutting-edge security monitoring tools.
Key Elements Of This Role Include
Cyber Security Operations:
- Monitor the organization's network and systems for security threats, vulnerabilities, and anomalies.
- Implement and maintain security monitoring tools and technologies.
- Advance the adoption of Information Security and Privacy capabilities and controls across all in-scope organizations, including third-party suppliers.
- Proactively identify and assist with the implementation of products and tools to ensure the security of our infrastructure and applications.
- Investigate information security events, support remediation activities, and conduct root cause analysis.
- Work with the change management team to review the security impact of operational changes.
- Assist with the development of security policies, standards, directives, practices, and processes.

- Completion of a post-secondary education in Cyber Security or relevant program with at least 1-2 years of experience
- Ability to quickly learn about organizational policies, processes, and work culture.

- Passionate about learning and staying up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices.
- Ability to perform risk assessments and control gap assessments.
- Knowledge of security policies and processes.
