Who we need?
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Risk Management, we are looking for an Operational Risk Specialist. You will assist in all risk initiatives and programs, verifying all risks are managed in accordance with Canadian Premier's Risk Appetite and adherence to our risk framework, policies, processes, and guidelines. In addition, you will collaborate with Risk Champions to collect and analyze risk data and update all related information.
As we grow organically and through acquisition, we need someone strategic with a growth mindset who can build strong internal partnerships and provide highly valued enterprise, business continuity and cybersecurity risk management guidance.
This is a hybrid opportunity, working 2-3 days per week in our Toronto office.

What you will focus on
- Policies & Procedures. You will help and coordinate in writing/updating risk policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Risk events. You will assist in managing the identification, assessment, monitoring, resolution, and reporting of risks, issues, and events. You will contribute to the planning and tracking of follow-up activities. You will coordinate and ensure post-implementation verification.
- Risk mitigation. You will assist in Identifying, maintaining, and evaluating control design and effectiveness to mitigate risks. You will work with the Manager of Enterprise Risk Management, "Risk Champions," and BCM coordinators in business and corporate functions to ensure company alignment.
- Manage data. You will manage the Canadian Premier GRC system (Resolver) and monitor quarterly KRIs. You will conduct risk assessments and facilitate businesses in data input.
- Knowledge sharing. You will support and ultimately independently facilitate Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSA) workshops. You will maintain and update BCP and BIA documents and coordinate tabletop exercises and drills.
- Reporting. You will analyze data and conduct risk reporting, loss analysis/root cause evaluation, key risk indicator reporting, initiative risk assessments, and post-implementation reviews for new products/pilots.
What you bring
- The experience. You have a degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or a related field as well as direct experience working as an Analyst at an insurance company or a financial institution. You are familiar with industry practices and evolving trends, in particular OSFIs E 21, B 10 and E 13. You have gained insights working across enterprise/operations, cybersecurity, and business continuity risk management. You are familiar with setting up and monitoring KRIs, facilitating risk workshops and preparing risk profiles and reports. You have experience in process management, implementation of governance and controls, and operational risk management oversight.
- The analytical and technical skills. You have advanced Excel skills. You have critical thinking and problem-solving techniques and can quickly analyze large data sets to create reports.
- The project delivery skills. You have experience planning and delivering projects. You ask intelligent questions to obtain information, identify root causes, and determine solutions. You are highly organized, able to balance and change priorities, anticipate, and respond to issues, and manage details.
- The interpersonal skills. You have outstanding professional written, verbal, and presentation skills. You can build trusting relationships within and across teams and confidently work with any level of stakeholder, influencing without authority. You have a genuine interest in understanding others, hearing their perspectives, and addressing their concerns.
