Information Security Analyst

The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Lead Cybersecurity, the Information Security Analyst is accountable for maintaining the security and integrity of all electronic data at H&R Block Canada.
Key areas of Responsibility:
• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of our SIEM.
• Investigate security alerts and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Provide security-based risk assessments of business and technology projects and initiatives.
• Provide support and guidance regarding best practice, regulatory, and legal compliance, including SOX and PCI.
• Maintain up-to-date procedure documentation of assessments and controls.
• Monitor compliance with IT security policies and procedures.
• Develop metrics and reports, as required. • Provide support in technical security reviews of network, vendor solution, web applications, mobile applications, Cloud infrastructure, API security etc.
Technical Skills:
• Experience with Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, scripting language and Cloud security. • Experience with Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems security as well as Virtualization technology security.
• Working knowledge of SIEM. Experience with Splunk a definite asset. • Advanced Knowledge of Anti-Malware Controls at the network and host level. • Knowledge of Subnetting, NAC, DNS, encryption technologies and standards, VPNs, VLANs, VoIP and other network routing methods.
Key Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 7 years of experience in IT with at least five (5) years in information security.
• Strong understanding of event analysis, incident response, threat intelligence and cyber investigation methodology.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong verbal, written communications and organizational skills.
• Ability to document technical details clearly and concisely
• Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
• Project management knowledge and experience.
• Experience with software development and programming/scripting languages and security testing of applications
