Job description:
Our team is growing and we are actively looking to hire a Corporate Risk Consultant. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Risk, you will have an opportunity to design and develop risk & control frameworks, work with a cross-functional team to implement new risk and governance processes, lead risk projects and assist business stakeholders to proactively manage Enterprise risk. The Corporate Risk Consultant is regarded by the Business as an expert in risk management who consults with them regularly on risk matters.
Accountabilities:
- Play a key role in our Corporate Risk department to drive effectiveness of operational risk management and a robust risk culture across the Enterprise.
- Assist in tracking and reporting on risk events, working/consulting with the respective business units to perform root cause analysis, identify mitigating actions and track the actions through to closure.
- Play a trusted-advisory role to support the business in the completion of risk assessments, advising business stakeholders on risk mitigation strategies and development of robust remediation plans that address root cause of the risk
- Lead or assist in developing material (e.g. risk reports, risk analysis and recommendations) for internal and external key stakeholders such as Enterprise Risk and Return Council and governance requirements.
- Continuously drive and deliver optimal operational risk management reporting with appropriate risk metrics and recommendations
- Facilitate risk training to enhance and develop risk awareness and capability
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Risk Management or similar capacity with strong analytic ability
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to influence others
- Attention to detail
- Business knowledge relating to Insurance Industry and associated Regulatory requirements
Bonus qualification:
- Knowledge of P&C Personal Lines is an asset
- In depth knowledge and practical implementation of Risk Frameworks such as COSO, COBIT are desired. Knowledge of risk management practices and oversight functions
- Knowledge in Cyber security is an asset
- Experience leading projects is an asset
- Experience in fraud risk management is an asset
