The Opportunity
The Senior Communications Specialist will join a dynamic global communications team tasked with developing proactive and strategic external and internal communications and tactics in support of OpenText’s corporate vision and mission. The Senior Communications Specialist will play a critical role in the implementation of OpenText’s communications strategy, supporting and driving communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's brand reputation.
This role will partner closely with functional teams at OpenText to deliver strategic communications campaigns to promote and build awareness of OpenText products, industry solutions and sales. The position may be based remotely in the U.S. or Canada.
You Are Great At
- Owning, designing and delivering comprehensive communications plans supporting the Engineering and Sales teams at OpenText, and other projects and functions as required
- Work closely with broader marketing team to ensure that campaign plans and messaging are complementary and aligned with OpenText voice and tone.
- Develop key messages, press releases, pitching strategy and execution, spokesperson briefing and interview coordination
- Work with cross-divisional stakeholders to assess customer and partner requests and develop strategic communication plans and tactics to drive optimal results
- Write and edit memorable, engaging cross-channel communications that drive awareness of key initiatives, products and partnerships, generate media attention and inspire employees
- Build and nurture strong relationships with internal client partners (all levels) to manage multi-tiered content approval processes
- Measure, monitor, assess and evaluate content effectiveness and impact on key business objectives
What It Takes
- An experienced communications professional who can think both tactically and strategically and is comfortable working with cross-functional teams – often in different cities, countries and time zones.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, and solid track record in developing internal and external communications campaigns.
- Experience leveraging social media to amplify campaigns
- An ability to see both the strategic big picture and execute against detail. An ability to envision, articulate and realize both process and program improvements within the communications team
- A proven track record of cultivating and maintaining critical business relationships with trade and business media.Experience in the enterprise software industry, particularly with Content Services, DigitalExperience, Business Network and Cybersecurity technology.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or related field, or relevant experience
- 6+ years of experience in communications and preferably in a fast-paced, technology environment
- Experience interfacing with senior executives in developing and executing communication plans
- Prior management of cross-functional projects and work streams
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills are essential
- Exceptionally organized and detail oriented, with a knack for planning and prioritization
