What responsibilities will you have in this role?
- Designs security configuration and controls for the introduction of the new software, virtual or physical appliances to assist with security monitoring of the College network and systems.
- Manages Security Awareness training program for the College staff, which includes in-person training, delivering of training exercises and report compliance.
- Actively monitor security mailbox and respond to end user or business requests on existing or potential cyber security issues.
- Provides technical guidance to ITS team members and responsible for resolving escalated Cyber Security issues for Client Services/Helpdesk.
- Investigates reported Phishing, Spam e-mails or URLs and blocking high risk offenders, working closely with e-mail Administrator to remove e-mails if required to protect George Brown College (GBC) assets and data.
- Works with cross-divisional multi-disciplinary teams to design and develop secure technologies in line with industry benchmark and GBC standards.
- Diagnoses complex security problems; determines appropriate course of action and provides complete follow-through to successful resolution; performs maintenance, technical assistance and support on a wide range of systems and appliances.
- Assists Wide Area Network Administrator to investigate and resolve network connectivity or network abuse problems concerning perimeter security.
- Maintains department specific applications (i.e., Logging servers, monitoring servers, vulnerability scanning servers, security awareness training program.
- Plan and exercise Business continuity and disaster recovery testing as per GBC schedule for critical and non-critical systems.
- Reported cyber security incidents on a timely basis (e.g., Malware, security breaches, system outages, patching related issues, monitoring issues).
- Maintains compliance and raise risks for all the non-compliant corporate servers and workstations and systems.
- Other related duties as assigned.
What qualifications do you need for this role?
- Three-year diploma/degree along with a professional certification or equivalent from a recognized post secondary institution in Information Technology (IT), Cyber Security is required.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CompTIA Security+ required.
- Minimum five years experience progressive direct Information Technology Infrastructure and Networking experience with two (2) of those years focused on Cyber Security. Experience planning, configuring, deploying and maintaining security solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Experience in Network Architecture design, Network security assessment testing, Disaster Recovery, and Information security systems.
- Knowledge of current technological trends and developments in IT technology and information security, Computer, and network security related technologies/assessment tools.
- Demonstrated experience in educating and heightening awareness of technology and information security.
- Business process mapping and/or process modeling gap/fit analysis, data analysis and design skills are required. Understanding of the software development lifecycle, project planning and scheduling processes.
- Prior experience in developing complex reports and using business analyst tools and techniques like facilitation, interviewing, and documenting business requirements, and communicating technical requirements and the ability to communicate requirements to clients and team members is required.
- Advanced verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to learn technical information quickly and maintain currency in field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are mandatory; experience in facilitating and conflict resolution would be an asset.
- Ability to easily adapt to new and changing situations.
- Exceptional customer service skills, able to maintain a professional customer service centered attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, to exercise tact and diplomacy and exhibit good judgement.
- Demonstrates ability to oversee large case load while balancing other duties with nonnegotiable deadlines and conflicting priorities; must have attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.

Hours of Work: 8:30 am –5:00 pm.
