Cybersecurity Administrator
Summary
Secure the company’s IT assets using in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity technologies/processes, and a variety of security tools.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with a managed detection and response partner, as well as internal IT teams, to carry out the following:

Install, administer, and troubleshoot network security solutions.

Participate in vulnerability and penetration tests, and security assessments, and implement changes to defend against identified threats.

Configure security systems, analyze security requirements, and recommend improvements.

Monitor network traffic, servers, and IT systems for suspicious behaviour.

Audit to ensure that all IT systems follow network security policies.

Update software/systems with the latest security patches and ensure the proper defenses are present for each network resource.

Configure and support security tools such as firewalls and anti-virus software.

Train fellow employees in security awareness and procedures
Provide overflow support for the Network Administrator in the following areas:

Install and maintain various LAN/WAN networking equipment including switches, patch panels, switch cabinets, and UPS units.

Co-ordinate with cabling contractors to install and maintain network communications cabling such as cat5/6, fibre, and phone lines.

Perform proactive network capacity management activities
Technical Skills
-
Strong knowledge of networking, subnets, TCP/IP, and routing protocols

LAN/WAN, firewall, router, and managed switch configuration
-
Comfortable using network scanning and troubleshooting tools such as syslog, putty, wireshark
-
Some experience with network productivity and security tools such as SolarWinds, Duo, and Trend Micro OfficeScan or equivalent products

Experience with the use of Active Directory GPOs to enforce security policies across the domain, specifically in the areas of Software Restriction, Windows Firewall, and Restricted Groups

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with various internal/external teams

Organized and detail-oriented with strong documentation skills including the use of Microsoft Visio for network diagrams
Experience/Training
-
Minimum of 1-3 years on the job cybersecurity experience
-
CompTIA Security+ certification is ideal
