Position Summary
As a Systems Engineer – IT Infrastructure, you will be a part of a growing infrastructure team and will participate in IT infrastructure and development projects and provide subject matter expertise for AWS cloud environment. This role is accountable for identifying potential IT infrastructure issues, researching and performing cost-benefit analysis based on industry standard platforms and applications, followed by feasible recommendations and/or solutions.
Key Accountabilities
- Plan/Build/Run all aspects of the IT Operations including technical and administrative processes with both hardware and software
- Conduct PoC’s as required with clear success criteria and testing aligned with our strategic goals
- Help build IT operational roadmaps with our business partners and technology colleagues
- Continuous Service Improvements (CSI) initiative, recommend solutions and/or changes to improve performance, stability, functionality or systems management processes
- Champion and implement policies and procedures for IT operations (Problem, Incident, Change, and Release Mgmt.)
- Lead all change and release management initiatives
- Explore new technologies to determine benefits to the corporation and provide recommendations
- Provide third level support for production incidents as needed performs emergency remediation if necessary
- Manage RBAC for multiple environments from AWS, Azure to SaaS
- Ensure regular communications status reporting with the Project Sponsor, sites, users and deliver projects on-time
- Conduct post-incident root cause analysis
- Ensure all IT infrastructure is monitored for problems and take corrective actions urgently when required
- Deal with external vendors to establish services and resolve problems
- Ensure up-to-date documentation outlining all procedures and relevant configurations for recovery, administration and troubleshooting purposes are available
- Ensure all changes to the environment are being documented and maintained
- Other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications
- Post-Secondary bachelor’s degree or diploma in Network / Systems Engineering or relevant IT Infrastructure field coupled with related Professional Certifications and/or Designations
- Experience with cloud-based platforms such as Azure and AWS (knowledge of Amazon Connect an asset)
- AWS Certifications preferred
- Security conscious with 5+ years of experience providing IT infrastructure administration support in a production environment
- Proficient managing virtual environments (VMWare and HyperV) infrastructure Ability to productive task in a fast paced, high volume work environment
- Good knowledge of telephony, networks, load balancing, switching, firewalls
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
- Works independently within guidelines, provides guidance on complex projects while considering equipment capacity, limitations, operating time and desired results
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
