The Legal Services Division of the City of Toronto is seeking a Cybersecurity lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' experience for a one-year contract position, with the potential for renewal or extension.
You will provide legal support to the City's Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to procure and implement cybersecurity solutions which include hardware, software and professional services. The solutions are required for ensuring the cybersecurity of the City of Toronto and its various divisions and agencies. You should have extensive experience in the procurement of IT/Cyber professional services, hardware and software, and negotiating, drafting, and advising on contracts in respect of these matters, with a specific expertise in cybersecurity and privacy matters. You will be familiar with associated areas of law, including intellectual property, privacy and security, and procurement law. Experience working for a municipality or other level of government in these and related areas is a definite asset.
You must be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to provide sound legal advice, information and direction to elected officials, senior management and staff.
