The Role
As the Cybersecurity Analyst (information security analyst / IT security analyst), you will be responsible for the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of CPA Alberta’s cyber defenses. You will accomplish this through the management and refinement of security control measures and by following industry best practices. You will also be responsible for keeping on top of the ever-evolving threat landscape while staying current with leading edge countermeasures. You will have the opportunity to build your technical skills and expertise. As a team player, you will have a desire to learn and grow in your career and help others do the same.
The Cybersecurity Analyst reports to the Director of Business Systems.
The ideal person for this role is:
Cybersecurity trained and certified (SANS or ISC2) with 5+ years’ industry experience.
Broad knowledge and understanding of information security concepts and methodologies.
Experienced in the technical implementation of solutions designed to specific security and scale requirements.
Proactive in identifying issues, managing risk and executing effective risk mitigation strategies.
Stays current on the latest trends and attacker techniques, tactics and procedures.
Diplomatic and professional in working with internal and external parties.
Skills and abilities include:
Performing security assessments of infrastructure (cloud and on-premise), applications and websites.
Delivering solutions requiring information security, privacy, and compliance.
Creating business cases, lobbying for solution acceptance, and assisting a team through solution definition, development, and implementation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Applying critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain escalations and tickets raise by, and to, third party security operations center.
Maintain and monitor sensors and data sources to ensure all security events are being logged, monitored, correlated, and escalated to the appropriate parties.
Perform vulnerability testing, risk analyses, and security assessments.
Work with operations team to remediate detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.
Develop and promote company-wide best practices for cyber security.
Work with internal project teams to advise on and ensure security best practices are incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.
Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.
Stay on top of emerging threats and security standards.
Perform regular reporting to assess the organizations overall security posture.
