Job Overview
As an IT Support Technician (Tier 2 or Tier 3), you will play a critical role in supporting our manufacturing, engineering, and administrative teams by managing IT systems, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and maintaining network and production-related IT infrastructure. You will serve as an escalation point for technical issues and ensure that our technology supports seamless operations on the shop floor and in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for escalated IT issues in a steel fabrication environment.
- Troubleshoot CNC machines, automated fabrication systems, and production software (e.g., Tekla, AutoCAD, PowerFab, ERP/MRP systems).
- Support office and production teams by resolving hardware and software issues on Windows and other systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot barcode scanning systems, label printers, and shop-floor workstations.
- Assist in IT infrastructure upgrades, including the setup and maintenance of industrial control systems.
Network & Security
- Manage network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, routers, switches, VLANs, and VPNs across office and shop floor areas.
- Ensure cybersecurity compliance by managing endpoint protection, access control, and MFA implementation.
- Monitor and troubleshoot firewall, intrusion detection, and security software to protect sensitive engineering and client data.
- Provide data backup and disaster recovery solutions for production and administrative systems.

Systems Administration & Infrastructure
- Administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory (AD), Azure AD, and file-sharing systems to support office and production workflows.
- Support cloud-based and on-premise applications, including ERP and project management systems.
- Perform system backups, data restoration, and preventative maintenance on IT assets.
- Automate IT processes using PowerShell, Python, or batch scripting.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with the shop floor team, project managers, and engineers to ensure IT solutions meet production needs.
- Document IT procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system configurations for internal use.
- Train employees on best practices for cybersecurity, software usage, and IT-related workflows.
- Provide guidance on IT procurement and vendor coordination for hardware/software upgrades.
Requirements & QualificationsTechnical Skills
- Degree program in computer systems technology.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Cisco CCNA.
- 5+ years of IT support experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience supporting Tekla, AutoCAD, PowerFab, or other fabrication-specific software.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting).
- Knowledge and experience with the following technologies: VB 6/7; Python; NET framework v4+ with C# and Visual Basic; PowerShell; HTML / CSS / JavaScript; Relational Database / SQL; Networking / internet and active Directory;
- Knowledge and experience with the following software programs: Widows 7+; MS Office 2016+ / MS Teams; Zoom / GoToMeeting
- Familiarity with industrial control systems, CNC machine networking, and barcode scanning technologies.
- Experience with ERP/MRP software for manufacturing (e.g., SAP, SAGE).
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting for process automation.
