BIL Security Services Canada Ltd. is Winnipeg’s leading security company, specializing in IP Cameras, Access Control Systems, Alarm Security Integration, and Security Guards. As operators of one of Canada’s largest LIVE video monitoring centers, we monitor cameras across the country, capturing criminals in real-time from our state-of-the-art facility in Winnipeg.
We are seeking a Network Administrator to join our dynamic team. This role is essential to ensuring the stability, security, and optimization of our IT infrastructure, supporting our mission to deliver reliable and secure video monitoring services. While most of the work will be based in Winnipeg, occasional travel outside the city may be required. Additionally, this position involves participating in a weekend on-call rotation and may require after-hours work when necessary. A valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required.
Key Responsibilities
Network Administration & Support:
- Manage and maintain core network services, including LAN, WAN, servers, storage, and backup systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues to ensure high uptime and performance.
- Monitor and manage network devices, ensuring optimal performance and quick response to outages.
Cybersecurity & Compliance:
- Maintain a strong cybersecurity posture to protect against threats.
- Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, documenting findings and implementing remediation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
System Maintenance & Support:
- Configure and maintain computer systems, virtual servers, and network infrastructure.
- Manage Fortinet equipment.
- Implement and manage VPNs, network segmentation, and VOIP systems.
- Provide IT support to in-office and remote employees, resolving escalated tickets and ensuring minimal disruptions.
- Cross-train and share knowledge with other IT team members to ensure smooth coverage and support across all IT functions.
- Once trained, participate in a weekend on-call rotation. After hours work may be required when necessary or in the event of an emergency.
Infrastructure Optimization & Documentation:
- Conduct regular audits, assessments, and optimizations of IT processes and infrastructure.
- Create and maintain documentation for audits, training, and troubleshooting.
- Plan for future upgrades, capacity, and storage needs.
Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on IT projects.
- Provide mentorship and skill development to team members.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in MS server OS administration and Active Directory configuration.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet technology stack, network monitoring tools, and VPN management.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
- Expertise in backup and disaster recovery solutions, including failover procedures.
- Knowledge of Video Management Systems (VMS) is a strong asset.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration.
- Fortinet certifications are highly desirable.
- Experience with VOIP systems and troubleshooting call quality issues.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and collaborate in a team environment.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
