Director, Cyber Security

Are you interested in developing and overseeing our cybersecurity program during a unique and transformative time at the LCBO? Reporting to the Vice President and leadership team, you will ensure that we maintain a robust cybersecurity posture aligned with our goals and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage high-severity incidents, oversee vendor relationships, and guide strategic programs to protect systems, data, and assets.
About The Role
(30%) Strategic Leadership and Governance
- Develop LCBO's cybersecurity strategy ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee cybersecurity governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Be an important advisor on cybersecurity to the CIO and leadership team.
- Present updates to executive leadership and the Board on the state of cybersecurity.
- Monitor changes to regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring strategy evolves as needed.
(30%) Cybersecurity Program Oversight and Strategic Operations
- Be the Incident Commander for high-severity incidents, ensuring timely resolution and executive reporting.
- Oversee strategic direction of cybersecurity operations, ensuring monitoring, detection, and response processes are in place.
- Establish and track metrics to measure program effectiveness.
- Lead the governance and performance management of the MSSP to ensure targets are met.
- Develop policies, standards, and processes to enhance our security posture.
- Oversee enterprise-wide cybersecurity risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies are aligned with organizational risk tolerance.
- Assess the latest technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and ensure we are protected against evolving risks.
- Manage the cybersecurity budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
(20%) Leadership Development and Organizational Integration
- Lead and mentor the cybersecurity team, implement succession planning strategies to grow future leaders.
- Provide strategic oversight into the development of security awareness and training programs to promote a security-first culture across the LCBO.
- Collaborate with business leaders to integrate security into daily operations.
(20%) Third-Party Risk and Compliance Management
- Oversee relationships with third parties and establish reporting mechanisms to track vendor compliance with SLAs and security targets.
- Develop a comprehensive risk management program to mitigate third-party risks.
- Lead security reviews and audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001). Ensure findings are addressed promptly.
- Provide strategic oversight for implementing programs that improve our cybersecurity posture across cloud, network, and applications.
- Stay up to date with regulatory requirements and ensure compliance across all security domains.
About You
- Post-secondary education in IT, cybersecurity, or related experience.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, including at least 3 years in a leadership or strategic oversight role with a focus on governance and compliance.
- Professional certification in CISSP, CRISC, CISA or CISM
- Knowledge of cloud security (Azure, AWS) and Management frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001)
- Knowledge of incident response processes, including MSSP collaboration.
- Understanding of compliance standards such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, or Canadian-specific cybersecurity regulations.
- Experience managing third-party vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring SLA compliance.
