In this role, you’ll work across the organization to prevent, detect, and respond to risks, leveraging your expertise in security domains, governance frameworks, and risk controls. You will work in a resourceful, independent environment where your broad IT knowledge and enterprise experience will help shape effective cyber risk controls and governance processes.

- Job location: Calgary, Alberta
- Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts in the office (no hybrid)

Key Accountabilities
- Collaborate on the development, communication, and delivery of roadmaps to mature capabilities
- Assess, select, and implement security controls and products
- Follow and maintain incident response plans, procedures, and playbooks
- Mature the incident response process and provide security resilience
- Proactively threat hunt and conduct investigations
- Assist with management of and response to audits and third-party security assessments
- Prepare assessments and reports; and assist with and give technical guidance for legal discovery and production
- Communicate with all levels of the company – showcase excellent communication skills, the ability to move between abstract concepts and detailed design and relate one to the other, proactive, analytical, ability to triage situations and prioritize, and an “always learning” mentality
What You Bring To The Role
- Extensive Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in cyber security and operations with a University degree or technical diploma and hands on experience in incident management, security controls, and risk governance
- Certifications such as CISSP or SANS are an asset
- Technical Proficiency: Deep technical knowledge and experience in handling security incidents, including: log data review, correlation, and analysis with a strong ability to investigate and evaluate network traffic, read, and interpret logs and packet captures
- Cloud Security Expertise: Experience with defending cloud and SaaS environments
- Specialized Knowledge: Skills and experience in areas such as databases, automation, operational technology (ICS/SCADA/DCS), or data science, are an asset
- Cutting Edge Tools: Strong experience in EDR tools such as Crowdstrike and Carbon Black and knowledge of computing and security concepts, and demonstrated understanding of networking fundamentals including subnetting, TCP/IP, protocols such as SSL/TLS, DNS, HTTP, SSH, etc.
- Proactive Mindset: Strong initiative, the ability work autonomously, and a relationship builder
- Excellent Communicator: Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all level of the organization
