Job Description

The Software Engineer works as a team member within FAST’s Product Development supporting new

feature development, migrating existing features, and creating other mobile and web solutions for

customers. The Software Engineer has a primary focus on frontend development using Javascript, React;

however; they may be asked on occasion to jump into backend code. Research and analysis skills are

often used to accomplish and complete tasks. The Software Engineer operates under general supervision

with latitude for independent judgement and may be called upon to mentor less-experienced team

members.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Develop front-ends for our web applications in React in support of the Company’s offerings, FAST

Insurance Components - craft responsive experiences using React

Develop event-driven high-performant logic to interface with various API’s
Provide critical software development in support of the Company’s most recent e-App and web

development efforts, including supporting pre-sales and demo efforts

Collaborate with product management, designers, and back-end developers to deliver highquality features for potential and existing customers
Collaborate with FAST peers assist in the development of next generation user interfaces for both

mobile and web interfaces most often utilizing JavaScript technologies

Participate in the design and development of componentized software leveraging SOA design

principles

Develop expertise in technical areas: FAST Application Architecture, Hosting infrastructure,

Configuration Tools, Integration Architecture and other technical areas

Leverage FAST’s analytical tools and big data technologies to collaborate and solution

complex business problems

Liaison between customers and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely and

successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs

Oversee and mentor a team of developers who implement these designs ensuring changes

conform to FAST best practices

Support the deployment of FAST’s Insurance components as a SaaS offering using AWS services
Participate with FAST and customer teams in an Agile, collaborative team environment
Develop customer facing skills through a rapid succession of customer engagements

Qualifications

Essential Education and Work Experience

A domain expert in: Javascript in particular React.JS
3-5 years of front-end or full-stack development experience with a minimum of 2 years

of React experience.

Prior experience with web and mobile UI development using a javascript framework (React, ExtJS)
Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and maintainable JavaScript
Expertise in building secure, scalable web services. Doing so in JAVA, a plus
Demonstrated understanding of Agile software development, Unit testing, DevOps practices, and

can work closely with other teams to optimize your code

Experience with relational data design and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostGreSQL)
Good understanding of test-driven development and automated testing using NUnit or similar

frameworks

Understanding of source code version control systems
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering. MS degree a plus.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

The Software Engineer must be intellectually curious, and demonstrate strong interpersonal,

Presentation, And Critical Thinking Skills. Highly Developed Programming Essential.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

General office environment
Ability to travel a plus (when appropriate)
Average 45-hour work-week, more as needed
