SECURITY ARCHITECT

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Security Architect will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the organization's cybersecurity strategy, policies, and procedures. This includes managing the design and implementation of security systems and architecture to protect the organization's data and assets from cyber threats. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of cybersecurity trends and threats. The Security Architect will also participate in incident response and recovery efforts in the event of a security breach and will work closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that security is integrated into all aspects of the organization's operations.

This role ensures that the stakeholder security requirements necessary to protect the organization's mission and business processes are adequately addressed in all aspects of enterprise architecture including reference models, segment & solution architectures, and the resulting systems supporting those missions & business processes.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

· Oversees the design, implementation, automation and maintenance of security systems and architecture, including firewalls, web and email security gateways, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption.

· Ensures that security systems are configured to meet the organization's specific needs and are compliant with industry standards.

· Regularly reviews and update the organization's security architecture to ensure that it is current and effective in protecting against emerging threats

· Works with the leadership team to identify and assess the organization's cybersecurity risks.

· Perform security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan

· Creates and maintains a cybersecurity strategy that aligns with the organization's overall business objectives and risk appetite.

· Document and address organization's information security, cybersecurity architecture, and systems security engineering requirements throughout the acquisition life cycle.

· Provides guidance to the organization on how to best protect against current and emerging threats.

· Continuously monitors the cybersecurity landscape for emerging threats and vulnerabilities.

· Stays up to date on the latest security technologies, best practices, and industry standards

· Works closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that security is integrated into all aspects of the organization's operations.

· Provides guidance and support to other departments on security-related matters.

· Acts as the organization's primary point of contact for cyber security-related issues.

· Develops and delivers training and awareness programs to educate employees on cybersecurity best practices and policies.

· Ensures that all employees are aware of the organization's security policies and procedures and understand their roles and responsibilities in protecting the organization's data and assets.

· Develops and implements incident response plans to ensure that the organization is prepared to respond quickly and effectively to a security breach.

· Coordinates incident response efforts with other departments and stakeholders.

· Leads the organization's recovery efforts following a security incident, including restoring systems and data, and returning to normal operations.

MUST- HAVES:

· Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.

· Certification in CISSP or CCSP required

· Minimum two (2) years of experience working on cloud platforms architecture leveraging Public Cloud (i.e. Azure, GCP, AWS, etc.)

· Minimum five (5) years of experience with Security Architect and/or Security Engineering. Six to eight (6-8) years preferred

· Proven experience working on large & complex cloud transformation projects, cloud adoption framework (CAF)

· Proficient in defining cloud architecture patterns in Azure, GCP and AWS

· Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, web and email security gateways, intrusion detection/prevention systems, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and encryption.

· Experience with Security Orchestration Automation and Response platforms (SOAR).

· In-depth knowledge of on premise/cloud infrastructure, networking, operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS) computer hardware and mobile device technology.

WE VALUE:

· Strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures.

OTHER CONDITIONS:

Minimal exposure to disagreeable conditions typical of an office position: exposed to stress and pressure associated with multiple priorities and deadlines
Must be able to travel within the Southwestern Ontario area, when required
Must be able to work evenings and weekends, when required
