With a headcount of more than 9,000, Lubrizol has a large global footprint with 57 manufacturing sites, 40 laboratories and technical facilities, and 47 sales offices.

THE ROLE

Additional Responsibilities Include

As a member of the Lubrizol Executive Leadership Team (LELT), the Vice President & Chief Information Officer (CIO) will oversee the use of information technology, devise the IT strategy, and ensure that all systems necessary to support operations and objectives are in place. The CIO will also secure company systems from external attack, engage the organization around information solutions, and create the environment for data driven decision making. The CIO will manage a function which is made up of a global team of varying levels of generalists and specialists that deliver cost-effective, standardized, and secure services. A main CIO goal is to ensure that information technology adds to the maximum value of the company to facilitate the success of the business.

Set objectives and strategies for the IT department
Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits
Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience
Plan the implementation of new systems and provide guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organization
Promote digital literacy to help the organization understand and effectively communicate digital transformation efforts
Approve purchases of technological equipment and software and establish partnerships with IT providers
Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organization to ensure optimal performance
Direct and organize IT-related projects
Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage
Analyze the costs, value, and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Professional Experience/Qualifications

This leader will leverage their prior experiences preferably in the chemical or manufacturing industry, and will have preferably, already held a CIO, Chief Technology, or Chief Information Security Officer role. Additional experiences and qualifications include:

Experience in a large, complex organization, preferably manufacturing or chemical
Solved new problems that have not been seen before (e.g., technology issues, cybersecurity threats, and partner disruptions that need problem solving and timely resolution)
Driven continuous improvement and leveraged technology to manage cost efficiently while demand, complexity and capacity needs have grown
Ensured the organization remains motivated while addressing the challenges of conflicting priorities, complex projects and demands
Ensured the organization is constantly evolving, developing new capabilities, and growing
Fixed a problem that has the potential to damage the company’s reputation (e.g., cybersecurity, SAP)
Negotiated with external stakeholders, e.g., dealing with global partnerships and agreements - SAP, Microsoft
Taken on responsibility for a function, product, or service across multiple countries, e.g., global function / portfolio of services across the organization
Had accountability for dealing with a major crisis
Restored the organization’s confidence following a major failure
Managed a large corporate global budget
