Position: Data Governance & Security Practitioner

Job Type: 6-month Part-Time (20 hrs/week) Contract

Location: Firelight is currently supporting remote work from home.

The successful candidate will work alongside other professionals in a fast-paced, exciting, and challenging work environment.

Job Description:

We are currently working on a project to scan data assets and develop a data governance framework for a government organization. As a Data Governance & Security Practitioner, you will contribute to the evaluation of the data scan by analyzing the quality and risks. Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of principles, policies, and standards to govern how government data is organized and managed, as well as methodologies on how to monitor and evaluate the implementation of such governance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Data Science, or equivalent experience in data governance and management.

Required Experiences & Skills:

Strong attention to detail and highly proficient with information management systems and protocols.
Over one year of experience contributing to a data governance framework for an agency with over 100 staff.
Over one year of experience conducting risk assessments of data holdings and providing recommendations to advance data security and privacy.
Knowledge of existing data standards, policies, and frameworks within Canada across varying domains (e.g., Health, Legal, Finance).
Experience writing reports.

Pay: Firelight offers competitive salaries, commensurate with experience.
