About Tarion

Since 1976, Tarion has provided new home warranty protection to more than 2 million Ontario homes. We serve new home buyers and new homeowners by ensuring that one of their life’s biggest investments is protected. Almost every new home in the province is covered by a new home warranty. This warranty protection is provided by Ontario’s builders and lasts up to seven years. It is backstopped by Tarion. More than 375,000 homes are currently enrolled in the warranty program. Every year about 55,000 new homes are enrolled.

With more than 265 employees, Tarion works hard every day to serve the public interest by, first and foremost, protecting consumers and their new home purchases. We investigate homeowner warranty claims; resolve warranty disputes between homeowners and builders; and provide deposit and delayed closing protection for new home buyers. We also manage the Guarantee
Fund, an important financial reserve designed to help shield Ontario consumers from possible catastrophic building events. All of this enhances fairness and confidence in Ontario’s new home building industry.

The Tarion infrastructure team is responsible to maintaining our current infrastructure, look for ways to optimize while always considering the impact to the business. The other part of this role is to look for ways to be innovative in what we do and always look for ways to improve the infrastructure while maintaining a high degree of up time and cost efficiency. The team is comprised of highly technical and skilled individuals that all have great ideas to put forward. We all strive off collaboration and teamwork and we are looking for a very dynamic individual that brings ideas forward while always listening to others’ ideas as well.

What you will be doing

Maintain and manage IAAS, SaaS and PAAS-based platforms to ensure software rollouts, application deployments, high availability, performance, scalability and security.
Work closely with Operations, Infrastructure team members, Project Managers, Application and Business teams as well as vendors to ensure successful delivery for all projects.

Responsibilities include day to day systems administration & configuration management, OS installations, security updates, and urgent system patching.

Ensure systems and corporate data is available, secure, and operational, reacting quickly in the event of a disaster to identify how the issue should be resolved.

Research and identify areas of technological advancement based on business requirements; analyzing potential operational cost savings, recommending, testing, and integrating technologies into the existing infrastructure to support the business, and manage vendors.
Other duties as assigned by management.

What you will need to succeed

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in architecting, planning, and implementing cloud computing technologies (i.e., Windows Azure), as well as supporting, managing, and implementing windows server technologies (Windows server 2012 or higher), and possess an ability to think strategically about technical challenges and how they might adversely impact the business.

Must Have

At least 10 years’ experience delivering IT infrastructure projects.
Experience with DEVOPS and how it can be utilized to provide developers quick and easy access to the development environments.
In-depth knowledge of Virtualization technology using Hyper-V, administration, support and performance tuning.
Understand SAAS and PAAS technologies and how they can be integrated into Tarion’s Infrastructure to optimize operational efficiencies.

Ability to independently manage priorities and shift focus based on business needs.
Experience using Microsoft Server/Client products, Kofax, Business Objects, Enterprise Networks and Systems management, and Cloud technology.

Nice to Have

Experience with WebLogic, Java apps, Docker, Kubernetes and Salesforce Integration.
Experience maintaining Dev/Test/UAT environments.
Networking, Firewall, SAN storage and backup experience.
Scripting and automation experience is an asset.
Current industry certifications (i.e., MCSE)
ITIL certified.
