They have retained our services to source a Vice President, Digital and Innovation, supporting IT transformation and innovation, and shaping the future of their IT structure to support their vision.

Mandate:

The Executive will report directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Elexicon Energy. As VP, Digital & Innovation, the incumbent will be responsible for enabling digital excellence to achieve best-in-class customer experience and next generation of automated and sustainable power grid operations, consistent with Elexicon’s strategic and business plans (in both competitive and regulated business units).

As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the incumbent will work closely with the President & CEO and peers, to help develop strategies, plans and tactics to position Elexicon as a leading utility integrated energy services provider. The incumbent will inspire innovative ideas and lead the development and implementation of technological solutions that will enhance the reliability, and quality of existing and new services.

Working collaboratively at all levels, the incumbent will develop and oversee both the program and the team: designing, deploying, and operating enterprise-wide digital technology infrastructure that supports the entire business in a secure and safe manner that leverages advanced digital strategies.

Accountabilities:

Counsels and confers with the President & CEO and ELT on Digital Information Technology and disruptive & emerging technology strategies; keeps the CEO informed of issues that may have a significant impact on the business such as cyber security, system reliability, capability & capacity, and innovative energy technology solutions.
Maintains the highest level of data privacy and cyber security and directing the day-to-day sustainment activities of all digital information platforms, ensuring high availability, reliability and security for all employees and external stakeholders, while optimizing in-house data storage and processing with cloud computing.
Works with the business to research and develop disruptive and emerging technologies. This includes, but is not limited to, Intellectual Property (IP) management (pre-existing and new) innovative energy technology solutions applicable to various energy services/platforms such as Distributed Energy Resources, Trans active Energy, Smart Contracts, Data Analytics, Data Governance, Cybersecurity, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Alternative Energy Sources, Smart Home and Building technologies, Electric Vehicles and Autonomous Vehicle integration.
Develops and oversees an approved vision/roadmap/strategy for Information and Operational Technology platforms (consistent with Elexicon’s strategic and business plans) and seeks to acquire and implement innovative, disruptive & emerging technology solutions that enables Elexicon to provide fully integrated energy services to its customers and technology solutions to employees.
Develops and implements an approved strategic roadmap, including business plan, product development and commercialization opportunities, including a distinct plan for the Trans active Energy Platform using innovative solutions.
Promotes and grows “One Elexicon” through living and leading the established behaviours so that employees themselves espouse Elexicon’s values, vision and mission.
Assists in the development, preparation, and effective execution of the Company’s strategic and business plans.
Monitors organizational effectiveness and recommends, to the President and CEO, opportunities that will build organizational capacity and capability, and achieve greater effectiveness by developing, improving, and reinforcing strategies, structures, and processes.
Participates in key decisions as a member of the ELT, maintaining cohesive and in-depth relations with all Executives.
Supports the ongoing development and maintenance of a high-performance organization as an effective coach and mentor to employees at all levels within Elexicon.
Researches and monitors best practices and emerging changes in the digital technology and innovation sectors, strives to position the Corporation as Canada’s leading electricity distribution and integrated energy solutions provider.
Oversees the consistent interpretation, implementation and achievement of short, and long-term objectives, policies, budgets, and operating plans.
Promotes individual job performance and holds accountability to inspire higher levels of performance excellence and to raise the bar on acceptable levels of performance.
Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Performs other duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by Elexicon and its President & CEO.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science and/or Finance-related graduate level education an asset;
Progressive executive or senior leadership experience in digital technology or related field;
Demonstrated experience in a leadership role involving strategic planning, and supporting business growth/evolution experience developing and presenting to senior leaders and/or a Board of Directors and related Board Committees;
Advanced knowledge of the energy and utility industries, or experience leading digital transformation in a larger organization; and
Expert knowledge in digital technology, data stewardship, and strategy, governance, and cyber security. Advanced knowledge of emerging technologies in areas such as IoT, AI/Bots, Robotic Process Automation, Data Analytics, Blockchain/distributed data ledger, and AR/VR Cloud Transformation.
