Position: Vulnerability Management Specialist

Tenure: 4-5 Month contract

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Compensation: $73/hour

Position Overview:

Our client a well-renowned university is in the market for a Vulnerability Management Specialist who will be responsible for the design and implementation of the overall management lifecycle of the program and support short and long-term initiatives in order to decrease the attack surface across applications and systems.

What will you be doing?

· Will serve as the point of contact across all of technology to align Vulnerability Management efforts with customers and service providers

· Provide support depending on the situation through the use of information security policies and compliance standards to make sure issues are solved and updates are handled in a timely fashion

· Experience handling end-to-end vulnerability programs such as scanning, reporting, remediation, and governance processes

· Extract data and create reports for Vulnerability Response and Configuration Compliance

· Prepare status reports for leadership involved with VM metrics, key risk indicators, trending risks, and compliance

· Automate certain projects in order to limit the need for manual processes

· Maintain a technical team that collaborates to reduce the attack surface

· Perform scripting in Python, Bash, Perl, or PowerShell

Must Haves:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer science or related field is preferred

· 7+ years experience working in information security administration, vulnerability management, or security operations

· 5+ years experience in IT Systems Administration, Vulnerability Management, and Server Configuration compliance

· 5+ years of experience handling Server Vulnerability Management and Server Configuration Compliance (NVD, CVSS, CVE, MITRE CWE, CIS Benchmarks, Server Controls baselines, standards, and controls)

· Able to manage IT vulnerability management processes plus infrastructure server patching guidance

· Ability to work with Qualys, Tenable I/O, Nessus, Kenna Security, ServiceNOW, and open source

· Clear understanding of Windows plus Unix/Linux systems, endpoint applications, and networking protocols plus devices

· Some experience working with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform in regards to vulnerability management

· CISSP, CISM, CRISC Security / Risk Certifications would be a plus

· Nice to have an understanding of OWASP, CVSS, the MITRE ATTACK framework plus software development lifecycle
