Cybersecurity Analyst Job Description

Polar Asset Management Partners “Polar” is a Toronto based alternative asset manager established in 1991 which manages approximately US$ 8 billion. Polar is looking to grow the IT team by adding a Cybersecurity Analyst. This person will be detail oriented and have a passion for all aspects of cybersecurity. The firm is committed to providing cybersecurity staff with appropriate resources to improve visibility and controls. We believe this important to our business success.

As a Cybersecurity Analyst, you will be applying and improving the internal cybersecurity program. With the support of the wider IT team, you will work directly with internal teams and vendors to seek ways to continuously enhance and improve.

What you will do

Deploy, lead, and monitor:

IDS/IPS Systems
Next-gen firewalls with high availability
Compliance suite
Zero trust architecture & practices
VPN Systems
SSO and MFA
Automated code review
SIEM
User Behavior Analytics (UBA) systems
Investigate alerts from security systems or partners, closing or advancing as the need arises

2. Develop and implement:

Corporate policies related to cyber security
Red team exercises
End-user training
Management of vulnerabilities and engage in threat hunting
Runbook development & maintenance
Vendor due diligence reviews
Cyber security review of all new partners/services

What you bring

CISSP/SSCP/CCSP/CC certification

Hands on experience with:

Next-gen firewalls
Enterprise IDS/IPS
Enterprise SIEM
Identity Management
Windows and Linux systems
MITRE ATT&CK framework

Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST or CIS is helpful but not required
Team oriented – embrace opportunities to share information and ideas, believe “we succeed as a team” and that good ideas can come from anywhere

Motivated self-starter with problem solving skills

Superb communication, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities
