To support this effort Phreesia has worked to build out a strong Security Engineering function that helps build and manage our tooling. We are a team of engineers who subscribe to newer principles of application design and by extension newer principles of securing the environment and as the technical world is headed toward an “everything as code” nexus, we are working diligently internally to help our engineering colleagues plan, prepare, execute, and embrace the “new world”.

What You’ll Do

Provide contextual expertise on both how our systems are designed to work, and behavior outside the norm and provide support to the broader engineering team, which includes designing and building scalable tooling and automation to help the team respond to security events and incidents
Dive in to the details of “how things work” in code/app design to completely understand behavior, interview Developers to understand what was built, and collaborate with Architects to understand “how is this built and what are boundary breaking patterns”, then use this knowledge to help create rules for tooling (WAFs, AV, patching Tooling, Custom in-house built solutions, container runtime scanning, IDS amongst others). Tools: Signal Sciences, CrowdStrike, Custom Tooling, Alert Logic, SumoLogic or others
Solve logging platform related problems with your deep understanding of logging complexes, logging infrastructure and security events and familiarity with SIEMs (SumoLogic)
Tune our toolsets for effective analysis in an “as code” manner via tools like terraform
Contribute to and build our event platform and help define automated actions for response
Assume the Incident Command role or the technical Subject Matter Expert role during event response for Engineering events
Join a rotation as a second responder on the Engineering team for on-call pager monitoring with support among the team to respond

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of security experience
Desire to dive deep into analysis on a subject and a “define the problem” mindset that seeks deep understanding over quick fixes
Proficient query skills in SumoLogic similar platforms like Splunk, Elastic, Graylog
Strong organization to document processes and other things like postmortems and rule creating reasoning as well as a strong understanding of old and new development patterns like Release cycles, CI/CD, Code check-in and review
Familiarity with conceptualizing and thinking about threat assessments and threat modeling both in the release cycle and containerized environments; background in container environments and/or AWS cloud services is a huge plus
Respect for the DevSecOps Manifesto
Code/Scripting experience in a general-purpose language, preferably Python or Powershell
