OwnBackup is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to help us build the next generation of products for end-to-end SaaS data protection.

Our tech stack is Python, React and we are migrating our webapp framework from Rails to Django. As a SaaS platform we operate in a cloud native environment. Our products are developed on AWS and we support AWS and Azure. Our plans include containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, eventually going serverless) of our products to help us scale and meet demand by using open source platform for a fast growing client base. We aspire to remain cloud agnostic to support a varied client base.

Your Day-to-Day Role

Participating in daily scrum meetings
Being part of cross R&D team engineering initiatives
Participating in design reviews
Writing your code with the highest coding standard
Doing code reviews and pushing for quality
Listening in meetings with clients
Solving production issues and other problem solving activities when needed
Yearning to learn and implement new technologies
Build shared components / modules

Your Work Experience

5 + years of experience as a software developer, using languages such as Python, Java or TypeScript
Python experience is a strong advantage
BS in Computer-science or equivalent degree
Strong knowledge in Database systems (Preferably MySQL)
Secure-coding/infosec principles
Scalability & performance
Familiarity with Linux / Unix

Important Details

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business.
