THE OPPORTUNITY:

Based in our Toronto offices, this is an exciting opportunity to support the continued growth of the IT security team at Onex. Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure and Service Delivery, you will support the day-to-day security operations at Onex and its businesses.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Monitor, analyze and respond to security events and incidents for security risk and escalate incidents when necessary.
Pro-actively research and identify network and system vulnerabilities and provide recommended counter measures or mitigating controls to reduce risk to an acceptable and manageable level.
Conduct tuning engagements with other IT subject matter experts to develop/adjust SIEM and other rules and response procedures.
Stay well informed and current on security trends, asses their potential impact on the organization.
Produce periodic threat summary reports and develop custom SIEM and other security reports as needed to identify gaps and trends.
Utilize your programming and scripting skills to enhance product integrations.
Utilize commercial and open source vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools to conduct regular vulnerability scans against company’s sites, systems and applications.
Preserve evidence and document actions in cases to effectively communicate information internally.
Adhere to policies, procedures, and security practices, measure and enforce incident response SLAs.
Resolve problems independently and understand escalation procedure. Coordinate escalations and collaborate with internal technology teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Perform system maintenance and maintain current documentation.

WHAT YOU BRING:

Degree in Information Technology, Information Security/Assurance, Engineering or related field of study; or at least four years of prior relevant experience.
Strong analytical, scripting and open source programming skills and experience working with RESTful and other Web Services APIs.
Prior relevant experience with tools such as SIEM, Firewall (FW), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Antivirus (AV), and Network Access Control (NAC), Metasploit, BlackArch and Kali.
Knowledge of vulnerability remediation practices.
Understand cyber security threat vectors and threat impact.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP and related concepts.
Solid understanding of cybersecurity methodologies.
Understanding of web application and network vulnerabilities including OWASP, Top 10, and SANS Top 25.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills and well developed ability to interact with the business users on cyber security topics.
