SOC Analysts are the front line against threats to an organization’s infrastructure. The role covers the handling of threat detection events or discovered vulnerabilities, assessing the scope of the threat, analyzing the existing and potential impact, and taking steps necessary to mitigate the risks through research, and collaboration with other individuals/teams. Given the 24x7 nature of threat detection, SOC Analysts are tasked with ensuring a rapid response to any events that pose a potential threat to our clients and the operation of their businesses.

Lodestone is seeking those who would like to build on their existing knowledge and experience in Information Security. Here are some of the basics of the foundation required:

• Relevant security certifications and training.

• Strong understanding of current security threats, techniques, vulnerabilities, and a dedication to research to stay current with the security landscape.

• Comprehensive understanding of incident response handling procedures, cyber kill chain, and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both for timely and thorough updates to the clients, and documenting each event as an investigation moves forward.

• Excellent process-following and organizational skills.

This highlights some of the key responsibilities and expectations of the SOC Analyst role:

• Review and triage security alerts, provide analysis, determine necessary mitigation and remediation efforts, and escalate to additional resources as needed.

• Provide support to our clients through monitoring security consoles and dashboards for threats or irregularities.

• Through our ticket tracking system, manage events, taking care to document each event from detection through to resolution thoroughly.

• Handle the coordination of internal and external communications around a given event, providing thoughtful and timely updates to stakeholders at agreed-upon cadences.

• May perform other duties as assigned by management, including work for other teams within Lodestone on an as-needed basis.
