What We Do

Laika combines simple software with expert guidance to help SaaS companies manage security compliance, security audits, and enterprise procurement security diligence. Laika helps companies adopt stage-appropriate compliance practices that enterprises can trust and reduce the time and costs of security audits by 50% or more.

We are a rapidly expanding team based in New York. We were founded in May 2019 and raised our Series C funding in November 2022. Our top investors include: J.P. Morgan, PayPal Ventures, Fin Capital, Centana, and Bain Capital. We're growing customers and revenue dramatically and we’re poised for continued break-out growth in 2023 and beyond.

About the Job

We are looking for a dedicated, people focused Sales Development Leader to help Laika continue to build and scale a high-performing sales development organization.

This is an important role at a formative time in Laika’s evolution – the SDR leader will help shape the team through hiring, training and coaching, as well as consistent evaluation and refinement of our sales process. Through your work with the SDR team, you will own a growing part of our revenue engine, and build the future rockstars of the Laika organization. You will work closely with our sales managers, sales operations, and marketing operations teams to develop and improve the strategy and tactics driving the sales development team.

As the leader of the Sales Development organization, you will recruit, hire, guide, coach, and develop a team of talented Sales Development Representatives. You will have ownership and responsibility over hiring, training, managing, coaching, and driving this team to exceed goals.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Sales, you will play a key role in shaping and implementing our sales strategy to drive exponential growth. You love to coach and motivate talent, and also love to evaluate performance and process by looking at data and discovering new ways to drive better performance. While this is a fast-paced environment and you'll be constantly tested, you will be supported by engaged teammates who are invested in your future success.

Key Responsibilities

Recruit, hire, and train your sales team to become strong individual contributors
Coach, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales team
Provide training and constructive feedback to team members consistently
Use sales training techniques & methodologies to upskill and enhance performance
Provide SDR's with the tools, strategies and frameworks to achieve targets
Conduct weekly forecast reviews and quarterly progress reviews with each rep
Identify personal motivators for team members and build trust
Maintain the highest levels of integrity, authenticity and honesty
Uphold company values and embrace team culture
Help set goals and manage team productivity, and funnel of opportunities to achieve and exceed agreed-upon metrics and KPIs
Assess and suggest ongoing process improvements and implementation of systems to make the team more efficient
Continually stay abreast of key industry developments in SaaS, fintech, health tech, security and compliance

About You:

You are a results-oriented, empathetic leader, motivated to help your team and the company exceed goals.
You are able to synthesize complex information and provide insights to your team and to leadership for strategic decision-making.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
You have strong active-listening skills, are deeply curious, and believe in a consultative, value-based sales approach.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Previous experience sourcing and closing deals in B2B SaaS
4+ years managing an inbound/outbound Sales Team, preferably SMB Vertical SaaS, with demonstrated record exceeding goals.
Demonstrated ability to hire, train, and develop top sales talent
Deep understanding of and ability to train/coach on sourcing and discovery sales skills (cold calling, email communication, qualification, discovery)
Experience scaling a team (ideally in a start up environment)

Bonus Points

Experience in the cybersecurity or compliance industry

Compensation:

Total on target earnings is estimated to be between $130,000 - $190,000 which will be commensurate with experience
