The Rooms team is looking to bring Envoy’s conference room solution to the next level of scale. The product has seen over 10x growth over the last 6 months as companies return to the office, which comes with scaling challenges and opportunities.

Envoy’s customers can set up rooms so that their employees can use it to book rooms on a tablet, see which ones are empty, and even find available rooms close-by through the mobile app. Rooms is one of the fastest growing product-lines at Envoy.

We are looking for a senior product backend engineer who can architect and ship backend API endpoints and systems to bring the Rooms product to the next level.

We want this individual to get excited about understanding and driving the end-to-end Product Engineering process through all its stages: problem definition, solution exploration, system design, code execution, deployment, monitoring and iteration.

We want this individual to be obsessed with enabling others on the team to improve “Product Velocity” - the speed at which we can ship new products to the market. We intend to accomplish this not by putting in more hours, but by creating clean abstractions and systems so that Product Engineers can move quickly. By January of 2023, we want to be printing features.

This is not a remote position.

The ideal candidate is excited about working in-person with peers in New York City. We bounce product ideas off of each other and whiteboard software systems. We want someone who’s excited to be part of the collaborative culture and contribute to that energy.

You will

Help us scale: Our Rooms product is used by tens of thousands of people every day and has grown 10x in the last 6 months. This is only the beginning and you will be an integral part of expansion.
Design core backend software components that support our Rooms product
Drive engineering projects to completion. You will be an advocate for quality while also holding ambitious product goals.
Be an advocate for the end-user, whether they are an Envoy customer or external developer
Be a thought leader in the engineering organization, driving definitions of best practices
Conduct technical design and code reviews, share your knowledge and experience organization wide

We believe that strong engineers can learn any stack, but we currently use:

Kotlin for our backend application layer
Typescript for our front-end
Postgres for our database
AWS for our infrastructure
