Job Title Cyber Security Analyst (Remote)

Term Full-time position

Location Remote - Canada

Reports to Team Lead, Infrastructure and Security

Purpose

The Cyber Security Analyst will work closely with the Infrastructure and Security team, provide day-to-day operational support for Corporate and OT environments, act as an internal SOC team member, and complete Security-related projects as directed.

Main Responsibilities & Activities

Provide tier 1 & 2 day-to-day security operations support.
Participate in reviewing and analyzing security-related events, assessing criticality and priority.
Create new processes and workbooks to automate and streamline investigative processes.
Work with SIEM technologies to ingest new data sources, run advanced correlation processes, create new content, and use visualization and automation techniques.
Manage logging from various sources with the goal of gaining better visibility and insights.
Work with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools to investigate and remediate threats.
Monitor Email systems for active phishing campaigns, block malicious sources, review alerts and manage internal phishing simulation training sessions.
Collaborate with the Network Team to ensure good security practices and hygiene are followed.
Promote and develop solid Cloud security practices as new technologies are deployed.
Contribute to Security Incident Response Plans (SIRP) and participate in table-top exercises.
Actively take part in troubleshooting, break-fix, and major incident management.
Develop and maintain documentation for corporate networks and related processes.
Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
Monitor and track various security metrics and contribute to monthly and quarterly reports.
Write, implement, and manage change controls as directed.
Participate in security-related projects and provide post-completion support as required.
Conduct ongoing research and development of new security practices and techniques.
Actively remain updated with the latest security trends, advancements, vulnerability tracking and attacker techniques tactics and procedures.
Travel to field sites if required.
Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Associate Diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, or related education.
3 - 5 years of experience as a security analyst, or similar.
SSCP or CCSP level knowledge/experience (certification preferred).
Independently motivated individual with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient understanding of Splunk, Windows Defender, and Sysmon.
Strong understanding of networking concepts and technologies (firewalls and IPS systems).
Proficiency in a scripting language such as PowerShell or related.
Experience with email technologies and protective security controls.
Hands on experience using various XDR tools.
In-depth understanding of the internal workings of the Windows Operating System.
Working knowledge of security operations, troubleshooting and best practices.
Exceptional abilities to troubleshoot and collaborate with others to resolve incidents.
Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.
Works well in a team environment, with strong communication and inter-personal skills.
Oil and Gas & Operational Technology (OT), ICS and SCADA experience is a benefit.
