Are you an experienced leader with a strong understanding of municipal governance and a passion for public service? The City of Beaumont is seeking a dynamic Director of Legal & Legislative Services to join our Senior Leadership Team. In this critical role, you will guide the City in meeting its legislated and legal requirements, develop and maintain the governance framework, and provide strategic oversight to the Legal and Legislative Services department. Your leadership will support the Mayor & Council, senior administration, boards, committees, and tribunals, manage legal needs, and support the city's intergovernmental relationships.

What YOU’RE Responsible for:

Leadership: Demonstrate strong leadership, act as a representative for the entire organization, and establish credibility with broad knowledge and good judgment.
Accountability: Develop a culture of personal accountability, direct resources to support organizational goals, and set performance expectations.
Financial Leadership: Oversee the department's annual budget, monitor financial performance, and develop strategies through financial analysis.
Strategic Leadership: Develop operational strategies, stay updated on regulations, and partner with the Senior Leadership Team to provide strategic recommendations.
Change Management: Lead change initiatives to maximize desired outcomes, promote innovation, and develop targeted change management plans.
Engaged Leadership: Manage, coach, and develop employees, create a positive and psychologically safe working environment, and provide constructive feedback.
Relationship Building: Cultivate effective relationships with various clients and partners, promote the City's vision, and build support through influence and negotiation.
Health & Safety: Maintain responsibility for the City’s Health and Safety program, ensure compliance, and actively participate in safety activities.

What YOU Bring:

Educational Background: Master’s degree in public administration, political science, business administration, law, or a related field. Certifications such as the National Advanced Certificate in Local Authorities Administration Levels I and II, Information Access and Protection of Privacy, and Certified Municipal Clerk are assets.
Experience: At least 10 years of related experience with multiple years in management and supervision. Knowledge of municipal legislation (Municipal Government Act, Local Authorities Election Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) and municipal administration are essential.
Leadership Qualities: Demonstrate multi-faceted leadership, solutions-oriented approach, innovative, and tactful political astuteness, and an ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
Communication Skills: Expert communicator, comfortable with public speaking, and able to delegate, develop people, and hold them accountable.
Customer Service Focus: Approach work with a foundational spirit of service, fostering this spirit within the organization and with key partners.
Decision-Making Abilities: Pragmatic decision-maker and problem-solver, capable of making quick, practical decisions using multiple problem-solving tools and techniques.

A salary range of $126,817.60 - $165,474.40 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)
