What is the role?

The Junior Cyber Specialist is responsible for professionally and efficiently assisting Intermediate and Senior Cyber Specialists in delivering best-in-class cybersecurity and cyber assurance advice to clients. As a Junior Cyber Specialist, you will be mentored and supported as you gain invaluable international Cybersecurity experience and skills.

Key Responsibilities

Assist Intermediate and Senior Cyber Specialists in providing cybersecurity advice and support to both internal and external customers.
Support the work of team members allocated to cybersecurity taskings.
Participate in cross-functional project teams in support of client taskings.
Provide non-technical support to client taskings as required, and
Contribute to the preparation of technical papers at cybersecurity-related conferences.
Conduct technical review of cybersecurity-related documents with limited supervision, and eventually author documents as you gain experience and skills.
Acquire and maintain technical currency in cybersecurity specific strategies, policies, standards and regulations including NIST, ITSG-33, ISO Standards, and military publications to support client requirements.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, with the following knowledge, experience, and skills:

At least 2 years of relevant cybersecurity experience.
Minimum 2-year technical program diploma.
Level II (Secret) Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain.
Desire to pursue CISSP certification or equivalent.
Strong communication skills.

The Following Experience Is Desirable And Not Essential

Experience working within large complex projects, involving multiple stakeholders, shifting priorities, and significant budgets.
Knowledge of the principles and application of key cybersecurity policies standards and references, including.
Canadian Government Security Policy (GSP),
ITSG documentation, and
NIST 800-series, including the Cybersecurity Framework.
Understanding of the application and tailoring of systems engineering standards and the system engineering lifecycle.
Experience working within or with government agencies such as RCMP, Health Canada or the Department of National Defence.
Exposure to Canadian procurement practices and activities from a cybersecurity perspective
