THE OPPORTUNITY

Bereskin & Parr is looking for a full-time Network Engineer to work in our Toronto office. The Network Engineer is primarily responsible for maintaining, upgrading and managing all system software, hardware, network and security components. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role, along with the ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. This role reports directly to the Director, Information Technology.

Your responsibilities will include:

Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of network systems, servers, virtualization and storage.
Experience with Windows Server 2019/2016/2012R2, Windows PowerShell scripting, Active Directory Services, monitoring, EqualLogic storage, Veeam, VMWare and FortiGate.
Experience implementing and managing cloud service providers and applications in MS Azure.
Install and upgrade network components and software, manage virtual servers, integrate automation processes, and network monitoring and response solutions.
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and network performance.
Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
Responsible for monitoring and managing security components and service providers
Administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 and Azure AD.
Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT team for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure and procedures.
Assist with escalated desktop and helpdesk support issues, to ensure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
Good knowledge of ITIL process an asset.

What you will bring to B&P:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
Experience with PowerShell, scripting and automation tools
A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
Possesses and demonstrates exemplary customer service skills, and excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership, team building, project management and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
Strong documentation and procedural skills.
Must be self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to work occasional flexible hours including occasional evening or weekend work.
Prior experience working in a law firm or professional services industry.
